French ceiling, Louis XV style, bronze cherubs and embossed glass

A striking ceiling light of French origin and design in the Louis XV style, made of glass with garland reliefs and a gilt bronze frame, decorated with cherub faces. The piece bears the inscription "PAT. APL'D FOR" inside the glass, meaning "Patent Applied For," indicating that the design was in the process of being patented at the time of manufacture.
